This page contains research that team members have done on Swicks involved in various military conflicts.
So far, most of our research has focused on the Revolutionary War period. We have also found some Swicks involved with the Pennsylvania Insurrection of 1794. Many Swicks were also involved in the United States Civil War, although our group has not gathered much information on Swicks in this war.
New Jersey
The group was able to find a Swick in the Revolutionary War. A 'Bergin' or 'Burgon' Swick has a service record -- he served as a private in the 2nd NJ regiment. Burgon also served in the Continental Army. Was 'Burgon' someone's middle name? Information is as follows:
"Burgum Swick -- Captain Allen's company, 2nd regiment, Sussex, and Continental Army (page 777)"We also found 26 pages of information about John Swick in the Revolutionary War pension files, and he claimed to be a Drum Major in the war.
Information has also been found about an Anthony Swick applying for a Revolutionary War pension.
No Swick has been recorded as actually obtaining a Revolutionary War pension.
